News Packages
I believe storytelling is a gift and a difficult craft which is not easy to do, and I try to do stories in short-form as well as long-form. I try to take advantage of the opportunity to find unique and good stories an audience will appreciate. Trying to do news packages in one day is hard for normal multimedia journalists to do, and if I’m going to teach them how to do it I feel I need to continually revisit, know and understand the stresses the processes, and the equipment it takes to do it. While I typically have a videographer help me shoot in the field, I typically research, write, produce, and edit news-style packages on my own.
The outlet for my packages is normally WVUA 23-TV where the packages have aired in the 5, 6, and 10 pm newscasts. I’ve also been able to enter them in competitions where I have earned a few creative awards.
